Scottish League One leaders Inverness hit back to see off Alloa challenge
A brace by Chanka Zimba helped Scottish League One leaders Inverness fight back from a goal down to win 3-1 at home to Alloa.
Alloa could have moved to within a point of pace-setters Inverness with a victory and went ahead after 23 minutes through Lewis Stewart.
It remained 1-0 to the visitors at half-time, but Zimba levelled in the 53rd minute before Jordan Alonge completed the turnaround with 21 minutes left.
Zimba added his second three minutes later to wrap up the points for Caley Thistle.
It piled the pressure on Stenhousemuir ahead of their late kick-off at Kelty, but the title-chasing visitors showed their mettle with a hard-fought 2-0 win.
Stenhousemuir’s cause was boosted in the 16th minute when Kelty’s Jack Brydon was sent off for giving away a penalty for a foul on Matthew Aitken.
Aitken dusted himself down to score from the spot before Dale Carrick added a second in the 41st minute and it proved enough to move Stenhousemuir back level on points with the leaders.
Queen of the South remain third after a comprehensive 5-1 thrashing of 10-man East Fife.
Jack Stott broke the deadlock for Queens in the 10th minute and Kai Kennedy’s penalty on the stroke of half-time doubled the visitors’ advantage.
Matty Douglas grabbed a third in the 54th minute before Alan Trouten was dismissed for East Fife and Brennan Dickenson added a fourth.
Freddie Rowe scored a consolation for the 10 men before Jordan Allan’s late spot-kick completed the scoring.
Second-half goals by Oli Shaw and Kyle MacDonald earned Hamilton a crucial 2-0 victory over relegation rivals Cove Rangers to open five-point gap to the bottom two.
Robbie Leitch was on target as Clyde stunned Scottish League Two leaders Spartans with a 2-1 home win.
Spartans still boast a five-point advantage to second-placed East Kilbride after they lost 2-0 at Stranraer.
Bottom-of-the-table Edinburgh were denied a precious victory after Josh Dixon struck four minutes into stoppage time to rescue a 2-2 draw for Annan.
Ninth-placed Dumbarton were unable to capitalise after they conceded twice in the last 10 minutes to draw 2-2 with Elgin.
Elsewhere, Stirling claimed a 1-0 victory away to Forfar thanks to Ryan Shanley’s 71st-minute strike.
