There’s many great fights taking place on the huge Matchroom vs. Queensberry 5v5 show this Saturday and the heavyweights could steal the show. Filip Hrgovic and Daniel Dubois are two fighters who are eager to prove they are worthy of the biggest fights, and they can take a step closer to that when they clash this weekend.
There’s plenty of speculation if you follow the news that the winner of Hrgovic and Dubois could find themselves up against Anthony Joshua later this year. That’s a huge incentive because a fight with AJ is one of the biggest fights in boxing and it also opens the door for potential fights with Tyson Fury and the new undisputed world champion, Oleksandr Usyk.
When I look at Dubois, there’s plenty to admire because he’s got himself on the verge of a big world title fight when I didn't think it was possible. After unravelling against Joe Joyce and Usyk, Dubois has faced many questions about his heart, but if you want to reach the top in this sport then it’s the one area you can’t be lacking in.
Does Dubois really want it? I hope so because he has many qualities that can make him a great heavyweight, but he has to realise that things will get hard in there. He’s quick, can definitely punch, but he has to ride out the tough moments in the biggest fights if he’s to get over the line. I’m really hoping he can do this because the rewards will be massive for him
Against Hrgovic this week, I get the feeling that Dubois is going to need to show plenty of courage and if he wants a fight against the likes of Joshua or Fury then now is the time to prove it. Hrgovic has his shortcomings, but he’ll be there all night and he’ll try and make Dubois fight. How will the man from London react?
For me, I can’t look past Hrgovic as I fancy him to override a few tough moments better than Dubois will. If Dubois can make a dent early then he’ll do well because he’s an impressive finisher, but I just see Hrgovic getting better as the fight goes on and taking the win.
