Edgar Berlanga returned home to New York City and delivered in a big way with a seventh-round TKO victory over Steven Butler in an entertaining fight in the main event of Zuffa Boxing 09.
The win was much needed for Berlanga (24-2, 19 KOs) as he was facing a must-win situation after losing two of his previous three contests, losing to Canelo Alvarez and Hamzah Sheeraz with a win against Jonathan Gonzalez-Ortiz sandwiched in between.
What happens next for Berlanga, as while he's a big name but looks to be stuck in no man's land with Zuffa having a thin super middleweight division?

This fight had been discussed earlier this year until Berlanga signed with Zuffa and Eubank decided to take a little more time off after his two grueling fights with Conor Benn in 2025. But there's no time like the present.
Eubank should be rested up and available for an end-of-year showdown. He's been reluctant to fight back at 168. But as the second Benn fight showed in his struggle to make 160 pounds, another stop at super middleweight is what the doctor ordered for the Brit. Eubank wants big fights and Berlanga is the biggest name out there without a world title, as the champions are tied up at this point.
Demetrius Andrade
Who would have thought in 2026 that we would be talking about the former WBO middleweight champion in significant fights? "Boo Boo" returned for the first time in nearly three years Friday night on DAZN with a first-round knockout over Douglas Ataide.
Andrade (33-1, 20 KOs) took the time off after a November 2023 sixth-round stoppage loss to David Benavidez. The 38-year-old called out Berlanga after the win when he said in his locker room, "Give me Berlanga".
Andrade is without a promoter and can go wherever he chooses. If he wants Berlanga, then a short-term deal with Zuffa would be the play. Berlanga only wants to be in big fights going forward, and Andrade has the name and would fit the bill.
