Catterall eyes Romero encounter through Giyasov pathway in Giza
Usyk vs. Verhoeven: Only on DAZN PPV - Saturday
Jack Catterall has his eyes on a possible bout with Rolly Romero if he defeats the unbeaten Shakhram Giyasov on Saturday.
The pair meet on the Oleksandr Usyk-Rico Verhoeven undercard in Giza, live on DAZN Pay-Per-View and DAZN Ultimate Tier.
Victory in Egypt would earn Catterall, a former undisputed light-welterweight challenger, the WBA's lower-tier welterweight strap.
That would theoretically open the door to a bout with their full champion Romero, with the Briton keen to move fast if he triumphs.

“My understanding is there's a contract in place with a timescale," he told The Ring. "He’s got to defend his title when I beat Shakhram.
"If not, you vacate and then we’re on the hunt for more fights. I can't live with regrets. I'm 32 years old, I'm ready to fight anybody."
Catterall had originally been in pursuit of a bout against WBO champion Devin Haney, though the latter appeared uninterested.
The star was reportedly due to face Jose Ramirez in his next bout instead, but will opt to pursue options with the WBA this weekend.

It does feel like every time the door is ajar for Jack Catterall, the star cannot quite get his foot through it to seize that opportunity.
He has the chance to change matters this weekend against Shakhram Giyasov - but it is a risk the Chorley man is acutely aware of.
A loss here will hurt his welterweight credibility and his chances to push for a full world title shot later in 2026 and beyond too.
It means the stakes in Egypt are among the highest the star has faced across a career marked by long waits and two near-misses.
Avoid a third reverse and win here however, and the star will surely be in the mix for those big moments he so desperately craves.
