Former rival of Mayweather and Cotto tells Ennis to stay away from one fighter

Zab Judah has heaped praise on Jaron Ennis but has urged caution regarding a future fight against Terence Crawford.
Ennis and Xander Zayas delivered one of the best fights of 2026 this past weekend and although Ennis endured a scare in round three when he was wobbled, he overcame the crisis to win in the seventh round after flooring Zyas three times in total.
The win has elevated Ennis’ profile massively with the fight playing out to a huge crowd, and the result has also saw him enter boxing’s mythical pound-for-pound list.
In the immediate aftermath of the fight, attention switched to what could come next for Ennis with a potential bout with Crawford mentioned by some.

Crawford walked away from boxing last year after he defeated Canelo Alvarez and he has shown no interest to return to the ring.
It’s unclear whether he could be persuaded to take on Ennis, but Judah, a former world champion who faced huge names such as Floyd Mayweather and Miguel Cotto, has suggested Ennis should think his next move through carefully
“He showed a lot of heart. He showed the world he could take a punch. He showed the world that he could be hurt and still pull it back together,” said Judah when speaking about Ennis to Mill City Boxing.
“That’s because of your condition. He took a shot, pulled it back together, and was able to come on and get the stoppage later on.”
“This puts him up in the top 10 pound-for-pound, but this does not give him the right to call out Terence Bud Crawford. Stay away from that. That’s a different kind of fight. Only because of the lack of experience. The lack of experience to go up against a guy like a Terence Bud right now. That’s career suicide.”
