A recent social media post has sparked speculation that Terence Crawford could be making a return to boxing after partaking in a training session in the gym alongside former stablemate, Lester Martinez.
After beating Canelo Alvarez last year to become super-middleweight champion, his third undisputed crown, the Nebraska man went out at the top on his own terms as he announced his retirement from the sport.
In a lengthy career that saw him go unbeaten, Crawford faced some of boxing’s biggest names as his retirement came as a small shock despite him having nothing left to prove.
Piling on a lot of weight to compete at 168lbs, it was clear Crawford was not a natural super-middleweight meaning he had multiple options across several weight classes.
He resisted all of those possible contenders to exit the sport with class and despite still visiting the gym, his former trainer, Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre, insists Crawford is done with the sport.
"Bud loves the environment that he created. The environment we created together as a team," said BoMac when speaking on the Last Stand Podcast.
"He knew we were in camp, so he just wanted to come out and get some work in to see where he is at and to have some fun with Lester. He brought Lester under his wing on his undercard, and Lester jumped to the top of the charts after that.
"Terence has always been a big supporter of Lester, and he has come out to show him a few things and work out with him for a few days.
"Bud is done; he has said he is done, and I respect his decision. want him to be done because he had nothing left to prove in the sport.”
