UNLIMIT win Apex Legends title at Esports World Cup 2026

The Japanese side secured victory in the 10th game of the Grand Final to lift its first S-Tier Apex Legends trophy, earning $600,000 in prize money and 1,000 Club Championship points.

UNLIMIT arrived in Paris as outsiders despite Japan's strong reputation within competitive Apex Legends.

The team only narrowly progressed directly to the Grand Final after edging a group-stage tiebreaker, but steadily improved throughout the event before delivering when the pressure was at its highest.

Their breakthrough victory represents the biggest achievement in the organisation's history and establishes the roster among the world's elite ahead of the remainder of the ALGS season.

Match Point Finals go the distance

The championship battle produced one of the longest and most competitive Match Point Finals seen in recent years.

Eleven different teams reached Match Point before a winner was eventually crowned, highlighting the remarkable depth of competition throughout the lobby.

UNLIMIT appeared unlikely champions after failing to secure a match victory until Game 7, while Sentinels looked poised to end the tournament after reaching Match Point themselves.

Instead, the Japanese squad survived multiple elimination scenarios before finally delivering the decisive performance on World's Edge, defeating Wolves Esports and fellow APAC North representatives ZETA Division to secure the championship.

Peace's performances throughout the finals earned him tournament MVP honours.

Momentum for the rest of the season

The victory provides UNLIMIT with significant confidence heading into the second half of the ALGS campaign.

Attention now turns to the Split 2 LAN event in Las Vegas before the season concludes with the ALGS Championship in Sapporo, where the newly crowned Esports World Cup champions will aim to prove they can compete for every major title.

Team Vision finished runners-up in Paris, while Sentinels completed the podium in third.
