Doku says Man City draw at Everton 'feels painful' amid tight title race

Manchester City escaped Hill Dickinson Stadium with a 3-3 draw against hosts Everton on Monday in a thrilling game that required a late Jeremy Doku stunner to spare the visitors' blushes.
Man City had taken a first-half lead through Doku, who scored two long-range goals on the night for the Sky Blues. Not to be deterred, the Toffees came out of the half-time break a new team, scoring three straight goals to put the Sky Blues under immense pressure as they look to keep pace with Premier League-leading Arsenal in the title race.
With the result in the balance, a straightforward Erling Haaland goal directly off the kick-off following Everton's third goal set up a frenzied end to the match, with Doku then coming through in the seventh minute of stoppage to rescue a crucial point.
"First half we played well and created a lot of chances," Doku told Sky Sports. "We know if we don't score those chances it is going to get difficult at the end.
"Obviously, they are at their own stadium, they create chances, and they are dangerous, and they scored two goals, but I think we gave them the game.
"Good that we came back because one point is not bad in games like this."
The 23-year-old Belgian described Everton's defensive tactics as "difficult" to overcome, but he said the game opened up once the Toffees took the lead.
In the end, Man City came away with a point where three would have been preferred, as Arsenal now hold a five-point lead atop the table while having played one more match.
Could the dropped points prove fatal for Pep Guardiola's side? Doku isn't ready to be counted out just yet.
"We will see," he said. "It feels painful now. There is still a lot of games to go.
"We lost two points today. We will keep on fighting - we owe it to ourselves and to our fans."
