Why the immediate futures of Savinho and Pedro Neto are intertwined

The Premier League transfer carousel continues to spin ahead of the 2026-27 season kick-off later this month, and a lot of familiar faces have landed in unfamiliar places.
Players like Danny Welbeck, Jordan Henderson, Alejandro Garnacho, Morgan Rogers, Elliott Anderson, Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans, Andy Robertson, Sandro Tonali and others are preparing for life with new clubs in the English top flight after forming strong associations with other Premier League sides in recent years.
Even managers have jumped aboard the carousel, with Enzo Maresca, Oliver Glasner and Andoni Iraola having swapped one club for another this summer.
With the transfer window still open for several more weeks, there are sure to be more players making the move between Premier League sides, and two that seem set to do so soon are Savinho and Pedro Neto, currently of Manchester City and Chelsea, respectively.

Both players have been linked with big-money moves within the so-called Big Six of England, with Savinho a target for Tottenham Hotspur while Neto is reportedly being pursued by Man City.
For Spurs, Savinho would represent the "bomba" signing that manager Roberto De Zerbi has teased in recent weeks amid a massive rebuild for the North London side. The 22-year-old may find himself surplus to requirements at Man City under Maresca, as the Sky Blues are also undergoing a bit of a refresh following the departure of longtime boss Pep Guardiola.
If Savinho does move on to Tottenham, that would clear the way for Man City to pursue Neto as his replacement. The Portugal international is coveted by Maresca, who coached Neto at Chelsea, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that Man City have already made contact with the player regarding a possible move.
One big obstacle for Maresca and Man City is that Chelsea have little interest in parting with Neto and would demand a sizeable transfer fee for him, with the 26-year-old under contract for another five years. Of course, Man City have no qualms opening their wallet for players they want, but it would still take a substantial sum to get the deal done.
Should Savinho not move to Spurs however, the North Londoners reportedly have Neto as their backup option. De Zerbi is focused on adding a high-octane winger to his side, with both Savinho and Neto fitting the bill.
It seems that the immediate fates of those two players, along with three of the Premier League's biggest clubs, are intertwined — at least until the end of the transfer window.
