There are few races on the IRONMAN calendar quite like Swansea. Set against the backdrop of Swansea Bay and the Gower Peninsula, the Welsh event has quickly become one of the standout stops on the IRONMAN Pro Series, combining a demanding course with one of the sport's most passionate crowds.
This weekend, the race returns as the 10th stop of the 2026 Experience Oman IRONMAN Pro Series, with valuable championship points, a share of a $50,000 prize purse and qualification places for the 2027 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship all on the line.
Why Swansea matters
With the Pro Series entering its second half, every result carries increasing significance.
The men's and women's title races remain finely poised, meaning Swansea represents a crucial opportunity for athletes to strengthen their championship ambitions before the season reaches its decisive stretch.
As well as Pro Series points, the leading professional finishers will secure two qualifying places per gender for next year's IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Women's favourites
World champion Solveig Løvseth arrives in Wales as the athlete to beat.
The Norwegian has enjoyed an outstanding campaign, winning the IRONMAN European Championship in Hamburg and establishing herself at the top of the Pro Series standings.
French athlete Marjolaine Pierré has also enjoyed an impressive season, winning IRONMAN 70.3 Aix-en-Provence before producing another strong display in Hamburg.
Home hopes rest largely with defending Swansea champion Nikki Bartlett, who returns looking to repeat last year's success in front of British fans.
Germany's Daniela Kleiser, fresh from victory at IRONMAN 70.3 Kraichgau, and Lena Meißner, who recently claimed a podium finish in Elsinore, complete a particularly strong women's field.
Men's favourites
Few athletes know this course better than Harry Palmer.
The Briton returns to Swansea chasing a remarkable third consecutive victory, making him the obvious favourite on familiar roads.
Standing in his way is fellow Briton Kieran Lindars, who finished third here in 2025 and begins his 2026 IRONMAN 70.3 campaign with fresh legs.
Frenchman Pierre Le Corre also arrives with genuine podium ambitions after beginning his Pro Series season with second place at IRONMAN New Zealand.
Other contenders include Léon Chevalier, last year's runner-up, Germany's Mika Noodt, Simon Viain and Belgium's Joran Driesen, ensuring one of the deepest men's fields of the season.
